Conversations with God-Job

“Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge?  Brace yourself.  I will question you and you will answer me.  Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?  Let the one accusing God answer Him!”

“I am unworthy.  How can I reply to you?  I should not have opened my mouth.  I spoke once, but I had no answer – twice, but I will say no more.  I am ready to listen.”

“Would you discredit my justice?  Would you condemn me to justify yourself?”

“I am convinced that you can do all things.  No plan of yours can be thwarted.  Surely I spoke of things beyond my understanding, things too wonderful for me to know.  I admit that I have ordered my life on what I have heard about you…religious conjecture.  But now I am confronted by you firsthand.  I hear you with my own ears and see you with my own eyes.  I therefore despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”
