Ghana

Our Partners

Imagine a country where 40% of the population is 15 years old or younger. Eighty percent of the population lives on less than the equivalent of $2 US per day. WordWalk has a strong connection in Ghana. Now is the time to join us. We have a relationship with local pastors and their families. We plan to construct churches, pass out Bibles, and enable people to help themselves economically.

The late Pastor Eddie Ahiake (1967-2014) pastored the Love Community Baptist Church in Ghana with devotion & a servant’s heart. Since its founding, the church has met in a rented school classroom, where plastic chairs, a church banner and instruments are brought in each week. Recently, the church has been able to secure property [vacant lot] near Dawhenya, in the Dangme district of Greater Accra. This region is an up-and-coming area of Greater Accra, with new family homes and retail shopping being developed as the great urban expanse sprawls into a more traditional suburb area.

Eddie and his Family in 2013

In 2011, Pastor Eddie was diagnosed with stage-3 colon cancer. Recognizing that his treatment options were limited in Ghana, the same group of ladies, through WordWalk, pooled their resources and raised support to bring Pastor Eddie to the USA for cancer treatment and a time of healing. During this time, WordWalk’s community and leadership were able to spend a great deal of time with Pastor Eddie, and grew to love him as a strong brother in the Lord. As Eddie returned home to Ghana, WordWalk continued to raise and administer financial support for Eddie’s medications (delivered by a DELTA pilot on the non-stop from Atlanta to Accra each week).

Eddie battled valiantly with colon cancer as he continued to minister the gospel of the kingdom of God. His battle with cancer and with death has been won. While we labor here, we shall miss him! WordWalk thanks those who have supported Eddie with funds and other resources during these difficult days.

Our Opportunities

We continue to care for Pastor Eddie’s ministry and to support his family with encouragement and financial gifts, as his wife manages small income streams and his children face college and their first steps into adulthood.
