PSALMS 120-123
Disciples on pilgrimage to God are given these words for truth, worship, and obedience. They lay out an intentional pursuit of peace and goodness through the battlefields of lies and violence. This post includes the first four of fifteen chapters.
Psalm 120. This Psalm confronts us with the cultural atmosphere of delusion and dissatisfaction, and confusion and chaos, coupled with a yearning for justice and peace based upon truth. It is here that the decision must be made to immerse ourselves in the reality of God rather than the evil and hostility of depravity.

Psalm 121. High places were popular for pagan worship and shrines to false gods. We all have those places that we consider and depend on for sustenance and security, but which ultimately end in disappointment or depression. This psalm reminds us that true preservation is found in the LORD. He is our Guardian and Helper.

Psalm 122. People of faith everywhere have a common desire to gather to a physical place to worship God together. This is the most unifying thing that Christ followers do. Worship centers our attention on the person and purposes of God. It has been said that “Worship does not satisfy our hunger for God, it whets that appetite.
